In the UNGA meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan told that a TV channel that will be internationally recognized as well as it will be an Islamic joint venture done by Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia. This TV channel will also feature films. Their basic aim will be focused on tackling Muslim issues and Islamophobia. As mentioned by Pakistan PM that this English language channel will be demonstrated on the BBC.
These few points were made in the meeting done by the Pakistan Prime Minister at the recent United Nations General Assembly with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Mahathir Mohamad in order to announce regarding the new channel.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also said that this step is taken just to correct the misperceptions that bring people together in contradiction of Islam; the matter of blasphemy would be appropriately contextualized; series and films would be formed on Muslim history in order to educate as well as inform our own people and the world as well. Due to this, Muslims would be specified as a dedicated media presence.
Countering Hate Speech: A high level of discussion was made on Countering Hate speech. This was co-hosted by Pakistan and Turkey. The announcement of this new service was made after this roundtable discussion.
Several media reports are referencing that Khan used the address to demand current measures to pledge hate speech and Islamophobia. He also declared that there was a requirement to address both the causes and consequences of these phenomena.
